La Latvian links

There are a million websites managed by Latvians, but here are the few I check out on a regular basis:

Latvians Online is a global Internet meeting place for persons of all ages with an interest in Latvians and Latvia.

American Latvian Youth Association is an organization that unites Latvian youth (under 35) across the US.

Gaŗezers is a Latvian-owned property in Michigan that has summer programs, sports competitions, a resort and serves as a focal meeting point for Latvians from across the world.

The full set of 12 volumes of Latviešu tautas dziesmas, Latvian dainas, are available on the web thanks to the University of Virginia Library.

Latviešu apvienība Francijā is a group of Latvians living in Paris.

Then of course, there are a few blogs I follow, most of these happen to be in English:

A Barefoot Rose By Any Other Name is not just a running blog, it's a weight loss, travel, live smiley blog written by a very strong, barefoot woman.

A Latvian expatriate in the UK, Inese writes about crafting with children, life in the UK and their travels at Are You Happy.

Chunk and KJ have a great thing going at Chunk and KJs Adventure documenting their travels across the US. They also have the added distinction of being the first blog by Latvians I ever read!

I've only found Discovering Latvian Roots recently, but have been taken in by the amount of research, genealogial and historical, contained within. If you've questions about your Latvian heritage, this is the place to look.

Food, Writing, Random Musings by the Canadian Julia now living in Latvia

Hello Latvia, Marianna's blog about motherhood, but the gorgeous photos have me hooked.

A photography blog, Inga Vītols Photography has it all; stunning photographs, interesting subjects and an informative and well-researched commentary!

A good friend of ours recently took up blogging about life in DC, with an emphasis on the Latvian. You can join in on the discussion at Latvian-American Adventures and Opinions.

Three friends and Rīga locals write the blog Life in Riga, designed to help you "move to, live in and appreciate" Latvia, Rīga and its residents.

The travel blog about the world adventures of Linda and Ēriks: Lindriks. Although they didn't make it to Clermont-Ferrand, there are tons of great pictures and anecdotes about the corners of the globe they did visit!

I wish I had found San's Life of a West Coast Latvian before my wedding, it was a wonderful DIY wedding planning guide and source of ideas; however, it morphed into a very cool blog about west coast life. Most recently San is blogging on the culinary and the outdoors at Dusty Hiking Boots.

A fellow expat, Our Adventures... is documenting life in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Līga has two blogs documenting two of her great loves, running, and tortes. For the cooks among you, I recommend visiting Quest for the Perfect Torte for some delicious-looking recipes, and for those that want to run off the torte calories, 1000 km a Year might be more your style!

An English teacher in Latvia is blogging about every corner of Latvia's capital in the blog The Real Riga.

Sarkanā biete - Life, crafts, travels, this one is in Latvian.

I'm excited to see where Mara's blog takes her. Currently a blog about her pregnancy with triplets, check out what is essentially her inspiration/mind & body health blog at Soul Full Space!

A Suitcase Teacher is documenting this teacher's adventure as she moves to Kuwait.

Ima just started a new chapter in her blog, travelivenjoy, about a semester in Turku, Finland. (Previous chapters were about her Master's degree studies at the University of Latvia and teaching in the Lorraine region of France.)

Author Zinta Aistars blogs at Zinta Aistars: On a Writer's Journey. I enjoy her prose just as much as her photography, I always save her posts for moments I can curl up with a cup of coffee or tea...
